We value you - your unique set of skills and experience. We value your willingness to build those skills and make a meaningful contribution to our company. And, we value your commitment to treat every person on our team with respect, helping us to operate safely, protect the environment and make a positive contribution to our local communities.

ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Planning Coordinator, the Long Range Planner is part of the Engineering Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. They will play a critical role in the transition of the mining projects from exploration to engineering and economical evaluations as they will provide competent and professional long-term mine planning.

The Long Range Planner will need to produce Life of Mine planning (LOM) by considering the mine designs, production plans, forecasting and other mining engineering parameters and constraints. They will ensure that the deliverables are produced within the established deadlines, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
  • Prepare and implement the life of mine (LOM), budget, and necessary economic analysis for mine operation and underground infrastructures;
  • Perform semi-annual mining reserves (MRMR) and mine stope optimization (MSO) exercises for the underground resource;
  • Actively participate to the expansion projects' studies;
  • Develop, prepare and design the Strategic LT Mining Plan and assess opportunities;
  • Receive and analyze new mine design guidelines (block models, economical parameters);
  • Develop tools, procedures and systems to ensure robust long range planning.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or a mining technology diploma;
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in Underground and/or Open Pit mining operations, including a minimum of 2 years of experience in production and mine planning;
  • Must have good analytical skills, good organizational skills, a high learning capacity, and problem-solving abilities;
  • Project management skills are an asset;
  • Excellent knowledge of CAD software, with working knowledge of Deswik being an asset;
  • Experience in reserves and resource estimation would be an asset;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must obtain a passing mark on a SPEEXX English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule

Monday to Friday, with the possibility of remote working. The incumbent's presence in our AEM offices in Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec will be required occasionally.

Note: The Long Range Planner will be occasionally required to visit the mine site to establish synergies within the team and present some deliverables.
