Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.


Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, the Exploration Geology Coordinator (Mine Exploration) is part of the Geology department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. The Exploration Geology Coordinator plays an important role in managing the Exploration team and activities; performing good geological practices in terms of drill hole planning and follow-up, geological interpretation and 3d modelling, exploration/resources conversion target generation, core logging/sampling, ensuring the compliance with QA/QC and preparing reports. She/He will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
  • Supervise the diamond drilling programs;
  • Manage the Mine Site Exploration team;
  • Conceive exploration and/or resources conversion diamond drilling programs;
  • Participate to the interpretation of the surrounding geology and to the 3d modelling of the geology;
  • Assist with the delineation drilling programs in collaboration with the production geologists;
  • Describe and sample the drill core or the RC cutting;
  • Incorporate the new assays result into the 3D softwares and DDH logger's database;
  • Ensure that the QA/QC is properly respected in the sampling process;
  • Participate to quarterly/bi-yearly QA/QC validation and reporting;
  • Assist the mine operation meetings and the monthly safety meeting;
  • Create, verify and implement procedures for geology department;
  • Daily follow-up and supervision of DDH contractor
  • Invoices validation
  • Participate in training the Mine Exploration team;
  • Ensure the drilling sites are safe;
  • Ensure to respect the AEM environment policy;
  • Create yearly objectives with employees and conducts the personal evaluations at mid-year and at year-end; (Short Term incentive Bonus - Salary employees);
  • Review the mine geology and it's accordance with model;
  • Prepare cross-shift notes and ensures good communication with cross-shifts.


  • Bachelor in Geology or Geology Engineering;
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in exploration, knowledge of Au-hosted BIFs/orogenic deposit is an asset, strong understanding of structural geology/deformation is also an asset;
  • Mining modules or Common core is an asset;Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Knowledge of softwares Datamine, DHLogger/Fusion, AutoCad, Deswik, ArcGIS are an asset;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
