ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. We have been operating at Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over nine years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 marked the last year of production at the Meadowbank mine, and has since transitioned to process ore from the Amaruq satellite deposit. With the official opening of the Amaruq Whale Tail Project in August 2019, the project is now referred to as the Meadowbank Complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Cook is part of the Camp Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
  • Prepare food according to the menu with the cook 1;
  • Daily soup and take out for all departments;
  • Execute the entire cooking step for: main course, starch, veggies, rice, pasta, sauce etc for lunch and dinner;
  • Prepare the lather for night shift meal;
  • Coordinate the satellites meals (ex: mill, vault, etc.);
  • Build the rotating menu and actively get involved in the special meal events;
  • Execute the specific meat cuts (ex: filet mignon portion, rack of lamb, etc.);
  • Build the main courses (ex: shepherd pie, lasagna, etc.);
  • Prepared different marinades for the proteins;
  • Work with safe practices when using equipment;
  • Maintain a clean workplace and clean clothing;
  • Participate in the health and safety meetings;
  • Any other requirements requested by the immediate supervisor.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Professional Cooking Diploma or equivalent;
  • 6 years or more of experience in a camp environment (institutional or industrial), preferable in Canadian Cooking with more than 400 meals a day to prepare;
  • Excellent knowledge of food preparation (vegetable and salad preparation, and cold buffet);
  • Excellent knowledge of food storage and preservation;
  • WHMIS training;
  • Able to be punctual, discrete, available, flexible and honest;
  • Ability to be initiative minded, tidy and has strict discipline;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
