ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance General Supervisor supervises the surface and underground maintenance team and works in close collaboration with members of the other departments of the mine. The Mobile Maintenance General Supervisor ensures the efficiency of the department and that necessary improvements are made. He/she ensures that the goals and objectives are attained, while respecting and promoting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
  • Coordinate the mobile maintenance department activities for all operations on site;
  • Ensure that the maintenance team works efficiently with all resources at their disposal;
  • Provide specific training and developmental opportunities for immediate employees;
  • Ensure that equipment availability meets or exceeds all production requirements by ensuring that all fleets are maintained in a safe, efficient and effective manner on their shift;
  • Participate in the elaboration and operationalization of the maintenance strategic plan;
  • Coach and mentor subordinates in regard to employee relations, safety, environmental, productivity and cost issues;
  • Oversee investigations involving safety incidents, accidents and near-misses;
  • Participate in the elaboration of the budget and ensure it is respected;
  • Ensure that reports are completed accurately and in a timely manner;
  • Recommend procedures and methods to improve employee safety;
  • Lead by example and encourage adherence to Agnico Eagle's Health and Safety Code of Conduct.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Technologist or Heavy Equipment/Power Mechanic diploma, or equivalent;
  • 10 years of experience in the mechanical field;
  • Proven experience in supervision or management roles;
  • Experience in the mining industry with mobile surface, open pit and underground equipment is required;
  • Red Seal or Journeyman certification is considered an asset;
  • JDE working knowledge is considered an asset;
  • Hold or be eligible for a Level 2 Supervisor Certificate, as per the Mining Act;
  • Hold or be eligible for a valid First Aid Certificate;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must pass a Speexx English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule:
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
