YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Energy & Infrastructure Supervisor, you will be part of the Maintenance Department and will collaborate with other departments of the mine. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
  • Operate and maintain the plant according to instructions, procedures and operation profile/plan;
  • Follow all procedures and instructions related to start-up, shut-down and normal operations;
  • Complete and maintain all operation records (including logs, check lists and running records);
  • Responsible for taking corrective action and communicating effectively the condition of all plant equipment, any deviation/disturbances from the normal conditions and other performances;
  • Watch over alarms/parameters of engines and auxiliaries, monitor and analyse the trend data and trouble shoot issues related to the equipment;
  • Ensure good collaboration with the maintenance mechanics on site;
  • Comply with all safety regulations (including isolation, lock out and tag out) and perform emergency procedures;
  • Utilise all the tools, equipment and accessories in such a manner that the operating life is maximized while maintaining power plant production at the output;
  • Provide for the relieving operator with a complete handover, bringing to his/her attention any operational disturbances, malfunctions or abnormalities;
  • Participate with the planner to build the weekly preventive and corrective maintenance plan;
  • Other tasks as required.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Possess Stationary Power Engineer certification or equivalent;
  • Class 4 boiler operating engineer's certificate or a fixed mechanic class 4, with the ability to obtain a Class 3 after 1 year;
  • Red Seal ticket as a Millwright, Electrician or Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic would be considered a strong asset;
  • Previous experience operating and maintaining Caterpillar 3516B diesel generating power plants;
  • JDE experience would be considered an asset;
  • A creative approach to problem-solving, adaptability and flexibility;
  • Hands-on, self-sufficient and demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude;
  • Arctic experience is an asset;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Note that the official working language at Hope Bay is English.

Your Work Schedule:
  • Schedule: 21 days of work, followed by 21 days for transportation and rest;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and may accommodate to cover other travelling expenses.
