Supervise and train maintenance personnel in procedures to implement major and routine repairs. Provide advice in preventative and emergency maintenance of equipment to department employees. Maintain the department's equipment in an economical and efficient condition through company resources. Participate and conduct daily, weekly and monthly safety meetings. Decipher field reports to adjust and insure the department's computer database accurately reflects the equipment's condition. Develops detailed job plans to include manpower resources, parts and support equipment required. Redirect company resources in the event of emergency breakdowns or catastrophic component failures. Monitor employee's safety and work ethics. Suggest and implement disciplinary action as warranted. Administer the labor agreement between the company and employees as it relates to department workers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (List at least 10)
  • Supervise and train maintenance personnel in the proper procedures of maintaining equipment.
  • Provide classroom and field training on proper procedures to repairing shovel and drill components.
  • Implements quality control procedures for equipment and assist maintenance personnel in delivery of maintenance programs.
  • Conduct and coordinate safety meetings with hourly employees to discuss safe and efficient ways of making repairs.
  • Monitor availability of support equipment and tooling within the department.
  • Perform monthly area and employee inspections on safety, good work ethics and environmental issues.
  • Utilize procurement practices to acquire quotes, parts and offer information to purchasing personnel as required.
  • Track requisitions, PO's and delivery dates until parts are received.
  • Plan and schedule daily repair work on the shovel and drill fleet.
  • Ensure the effective utilization of manpower, materials and equipment within the department's scope of responsibility.
  • Monitors employee behavior and performance and when necessary take corrective action according to company policies and the labor agreement.

  • Knowledge of maintaining Atlas Copco PV271 and DMM2 blast hole drills.
  • Knowledge of maintaining P&H 2300XPA, 2800XPA and 4100A Electric Shovels.
  • Troubleshooting abilities in Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Low Voltage Electrical and Automated Lubrication Systems.
  • Proficient in personnel management skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to superiors and subordinates verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions in Excel, Word, Ellipse, PowerPoint and MS Outlook.
  • Deductive reasoning skills.
  • Ability to navigate through complicated and detailed schematics.
  • Must have High School Diploma or GED and five years related operational experience including supervisory or lead experience.
