Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Silver Bell Laboratory, including safety, environmental compliance, production, costs, quality, people and projects.

  • Provide safety leadership and responsibility in the laboratory.
  • Know, understand and enforce all applicable local, state and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure environmental compliance in the laboratory.
  • Plan and control daily analytical work to effectively utilize resources.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage and report data.
  • Ensure timeliness of assays to help meet and maintain copper cathode production targets at Silver Bell.
  • Responsible for all aspects of quality, including cathode quality, internal and external customer satisfaction, quality processes/procedures, quality equipment/tools/supplies and quality people.
  • Order parts, material, supplies and equipment to ensure continuous operation.
  • Develop, train and educate employees for future growth and promotion.
  • Work in partnership with the SXEW Operations Department, the Mine, the Laboratory, and all other Silver Bell departments to optimize safety, environmental compliance, production, costs, and quality.
  • Work in partnership with the Union to ensure effective and efficient plant operation.
  • Direct and support the activities of direct reports, which include four chemists and one sampler.
  • Help develop and implement capital and operating projects to improve the SXEW Operation/Silver Bell/Company performance.
  • Provide technical support to the Silver Bell staff, as needed.
  • Effectively administer Department and Company policies and procedures.

  • Must have technical knowledge of mining, leaching, solvent extraction and electrowinning processes.
  • Must be proficient in all production laboratory techniques for blast hole analysis, and aqueous SXEW sample analyses.
  • Must demonstrate the highest commitment to health and safety.
  • Must demonstrate the highest commitment to environmental compliance.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with employees, other supervisors and managers.
  • Must be able to effectively manage projects.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
  • Must have excellent computer skills.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related field
  • Five (5) years supervisory experience
  • Ten (10) years of experience working in a production laboratory environment.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.
