The Opportunity: Barminco has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and certified Accountant to join our team in Downtown Denver, Colorado, US.

Reporting to the Finance Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for their safety and the safety of their co-workers while maintaining and reconciliation of the North American General Ledger accounts and business transactions by applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

More specifically, our Accountant will:
  • Comply with all safety and standard operating procedures
  • Prepare and maintain daily cash flows forecasts
  • Prepare monthly reports for management teams including management accounts, insightful analysis and commentary
  • Liaise with external accountants for the lodgement of compliances as required
  • Supervise Finance/Payroll support functions
  • Assist with the annual budget and rolling forecast
  • Support the preparation of capital proposals
  • Interact with operational staff to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the management reports and investigate any variances
  • Analysis of results in comparison to latest pricing models
  • Ensure monthly claims and invoices are prepared in accordance with contractual terms, and monitored to ensure timely receipt
  • Other ad-hoc duties including stock take counts and purchase order maintenance

Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/ Finance or similar plus CA or CPA qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role, mining industry preferred
  • Exposure to Payroll and related compliances
  • Ability to work at a remote site if required
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • High level attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while still being a contributing member of a team
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work in a high-volume environment
  • Knowledge of Local Taxes, Both Direct and Indirect
  • Highly developed analytical and reporting skills
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Pronto Software - advantageous
  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
