Position Description:

The Turquoise Ridge Mine site is looking for an Engineering Technician who can bring their strengths and talents to the engineering team. Responsibilities:

  • Collect and perform QA/QC testing on shotcrete and cemented rock fill (CRF) sample cylinders at both TRUG and VUG Mines in alignment with industry established best-practices
  • Conduct regular installation and long-term performance testing of rock bolt installations at TRUG and VUG in accordance with regulatory and corporate compliance requirements. Testing to include both compliance testing and anchorage testing (sleeve)
  • Assist geotechnical engineering team with continuous improvement projects such as shotcrete slump testing, installation monitoring, round determinate panel sample collection/testing, early strength shotcrete testing, and cement type testing.
  • New team member may also be asked to act in relief capacity as mine surveyor on temporary basis.


Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated safe work habits and ability to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. for short periods of time with repetitive lifting of 30 lbs. for long periods of time
  • Ability to conform to evolving Nevada Gold Mines Safety Standards and requirements
  • Ability to learn underground mine and safely drive self to and from underground workplaces using tractors, pickup trucks, or UTV's among heavy equipment traffic(haul trucks, LHDs, etc.)
  • Ability to safely work in underground mining environment (dusty, varying temperature/humidity)
  • Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal manners using variety of methods including but not limited to face-to-face interactions, computer/email, radio, telephone, and instant messenger applications.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive company vehicles
  • Ability to safely operate materials testing equipment (UCS testing equipment, rock bolt pull testing apparatus, etc).
  • Proficiency with basic computer functions and Microsoft Office Products (Excel and Word) with ability to manage sample testing data entry
