Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Network Administrator at our Cortez Hills Distrcit. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, installing, monitoring, upgrading, maintaining, and resolving issues pertaining to network infrastructure, and for creating and maintaining documentation at Nevada Gold Mines (NGM) sites, within NGM network, technology, compliance, and business standards. They are also responsible for supporting NGM Operations Technology (OT) networks, working closely with the site OT teams. They will work closely with other NGM IT team members including the Service Delivery team, Technical Services team, Cyber Security Engineer and Project Manager to implement, improve and support technology solutions with a focus on enabling the NGM business to meet their business goals.

  • Maintain Cisco routers, switches, and wireless technologies.
  • Respond to break/fix issues and perform root cause analysis to help improve stability through prevention of future incidents.
  • Rotate through the role of on-call technician on a periodic basis.
  • Monitor network devices, stability, and outages.
  • Assist with lifecycle management of network infrastructure.
  • Work with Cyber Security Engineers and others to identify and implement appropriate network security improvements.
  • Support NGM OT network team to avoid and remedy business disruption.
  • Support to network related issues of users.
  • Operation and maintenance of miscellaneous computer equipment and peripherals.
  • Safely operate light vehicles and follow organization policies.
  • Identify, discuss, and implement measures to create efficiency and/or automate appropriate work enabling IT focus.
  • Ensure opportunities identified for implementation to achieve target objectives and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with the Networking Lead to define the infrastructure.
  • Engage business to ensure site networking requirements are enabling production requirements.
  • Communicate efficiently with various levels of personnel.
  • Demonstrate comfort in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift frequently.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with multi-functional teams.
  • Demonstrate exceptional organization and time management.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Two (2) year technical degree and/or certification preferred.
  • Cisco certification - CCNA preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a business networking environment required.
  • Mining experience preferred.
  • Exceptional safety, performance, and attendance records required.
This position is assigned to a specific site determined by the NGM IT Network Lead. Travel between NGM sites as required.

About Nevada Gold Mines

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.

The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018.
