Position Description:

Barrick is looking for a Supply Chain Superintendent to join our Hemlo team. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Financial Officer and lead the Supply Chain function for the mine site. The Supply Chain Superintendent will be responsible for providing strategic direction, leadership, and oversight of the procurement, contracting, warehousing, inventory control and logistics functions for the Hemlo Mine.


  • Build strategic partnerships with local and international vendors to ensure adequate supplies of raw materials, machinery, parts, and finished items required to meet short term and long-term operational and project requirements.
  • Work with Group Supply Chain to develop procurement strategies based on current and long-term pricing trends for all project commodities.
  • Responsible for negotiating contract pricing, terms, and conditions with vendors.
  • Oversee and manage goods and service contracts for Hemlo
  • Oversee management of goods (warehousing, transportation, customs, import/export, shipping, receiving) directing the flow of raw materials, machinery, parts, and finished goods ensuring the optimum flow required to reach productivity/production efficiencies while maintaining cost containment measures and social responsibility requirements.
  • Build strategic partnerships with customers (internal departments) ensuring optimum service levels adhering to set operation/project schedules.
  • Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e., modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or complete re-engineering of processes and systems).
  • Utilize tools to monitor departmental costs and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value.
  • Know and understand company code of ethics policy, support and educate subordinates and employees regarding the policy as appropriate.
  • Provide feedback to management on cost and cost trends through reporting requirements.
  • Establish departmental and employee performance drivers by which to determine individual and team results (i.e. Purchasing metrics, results against project timelines, training documentation, attendance records, knowledge of roles and responsibilities, personal development goals).
  • Provide continual training, guidance, and mentoring of direct reports and employees ensuring all are adequately equipped, trained, knowledgeable, and able to carry out respective job requirements to reach objectives.
  • Responsible for ensuring all employee and company policies and procedures are maintained and enforced within area of responsibility . Perform other duties as assigned and required.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 8+ years relevant qualifications / experience in Contracts & Procurement as well as Inventory, Warehousing, and Logistics,
  • Previous mining, energy, or oil and gas experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a supply chain team
  • Excellent knowledge of end-to-end supply chain management processes
  • Knowledgeable in SAP and Ariba preferred
  • PMAC / SCMP / CIPS certification preferred
  • Ability to effectively plan, execute and deliver results.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills & the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly driven and self-motivated, strong negotiation skills, conflict resolution skills, ability to manage a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient computer skills with advance skills in MS Office applications, specifically Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and office management skills
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a global team of Supply Chain professionals
