Temp Geological Technician

Position Description:

Reporting to the Coreshack Coordinator, your primary duty will be to provide support the core logging geologists in maintaining continuous operation of logging activities. You will work within our team of professional geologists and technicians in a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Proven commitment to workplace safety
  • Drill core management - lining up of core, checking marker, measuring/marking and racking
  • Core orientation - docking oriented core, lining up and marking and recording QAQC
  • Core photography
  • Magnetic susceptibility, specific gravity (SG) and RQD data measurements and data entry
  • Geotechnical logging of core both oriented and unoriented and data entry
  • Preparing documentation for sample shipments and chain of custody
  • Data entry, record keeping and reporting as required
  • Core cutting and sampling as required


Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated/ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work with a diverse team of professional geologists and technicians
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Geological Technician college diploma or bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Science
  • Able to use Windows operating systems and able to use geological software (e.g. acQuire) for sample and geotechnical data entry
  • Previous experience is an asset but not required
  • Physically meet the requirements for the position, including but not limited to: standing for long periods and repeatedly lifting 33kg (70lbs) multiple times daily
  • Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
