Primary Purpose

The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise to Maintenance Supervisors and Maintenance Personal to ensure that all Maintenance areas operate and is maintained in a safe, cost-effective, and efficient manner. The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a planned/preventive work order system which are carried out within company policy, customer needs, and the statutory requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Mine and Environmental Regulations. Accountable for maintaining equipment records, analyzing equipment performance, and reporting on the effectiveness of the maintenance service and ensures that all jobs are planned in an economical, safe, and environmentally responsible manner that meets the needs of both the customer and Conuma Resources Limited.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and maintain safety standards and policies and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Working to achieve or exceed the site and departmental safety goals.
  • Foster and develop a safety culture within the Maintenance Department.
  • Ensure risk assessments and FLHA's are completed and signed by required personnel prior to the tasks being performed.
  • Coach supervisors and lead hands on safety habits and how to identify potential job hazards and manage these hazards.
  • Manage special projects to improve or increase safety, effectiveness, and efficiency (Six Sigma and or Capital projects).
  • Directly involved in Maintenance Planning/Reliability activities to ensure on-going safety, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Liaise with Warehousing and Procurement for material consumption/delivery requirements for projects.
  • Develop and maintain, with the cooperation of Maintenance personnel, appropriate preventive maintenance routines and schedules to ensure optimum cost-effective provision of this service and in a safe and environmentally responsible manner within the statutory requirements of the Mine Regulations, Environmental Regulations and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Responsible for ensuring the maintenance management system is utilized effectively to minimize disruption to operations and maintain cost control.
  • Thoroughly investigating all safety incidents and accidents and ensuring a robust action plan to prevent any further incidents of this type is completed.
  • Establish a positive employee and labour relations climate by conducting and participating in activities that contribute to an effective working relationship with all employees both company employees and contractors.
  • Promote teamwork at all levels of the operation through the communication of effective maintenance management systems and program consisting of monitoring and enhancing as required.
  • Available in off hours for emergency works that require extra attention.
  • Assume additional responsibilities, if required, due to the economic and physical environment of the mine or Company.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 6 to 10 years' related mobile maintenance experience in the mining industry.
  • BC Mine Supervisor Certification
  • Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Red Seal Certification
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Mobile Maintenance Planning is considered an asset.
  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Reliability training CMRP is considered an asset.
  • Deep knowledge of reliability and condition monitoring techniques.

Technical Competencies and Skills
  • Extensive, experience and knowledge of mobile maintenance mining experience.
  • Knowledge of mine equipment safety standards.
  • Competence in the maintenance and servicing of mobile mining equipment.
  • Competence in the operation and maintenance of a maintenance facility and the tools and equipment involved.
  • An understanding of short and long term planning, reliability & budgeting objectives with the ability to prioritize.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong leadership capability with strong emphasis on mentoring and developing people.
  • The ability to review progress and prioritize resources to achieve operational success.
  • Knowledge of human resource management, recruitment and leadership theories and practices
  • Passion and experience in achieving outstanding performance in the areas of Health, Safety and Environmental stewardship.
  • Comfort and capability in pursuing business focused collaboration on a Group wide basis.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills enabling the writing and presentation of high-quality reports and other presentation material.
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
