Description

Under direct supervision, this role performs duties related to the production process of a continuous-cast operation.

  • Assist in a production process such as casting, milling, coiling, shipping, furnace and refractory
  • Operate mobile equipment
  • Complete the appropriate skill level criteria of the progression program
  • Perform labor type work and keep facilities clean and free from job related safety hazards
  • Perform other duties as required


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must meet prior level progression criteria and/or one (1) year of related experience
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to satisfy training, safety, and electronic message transmission policies of the company
  • Ability to interact effectively with others
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders
  • Ability to walk on uneven surfaces
  • Ability and willingness to learn and apply new or changing job-related tasks as required


Preferred

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience operating heavy industrial equipment/processes
  • Experience with basic hand/power tools
  • Basic computer skills


Criteria/Conditions

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing plant, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, walk on uneven surfaces, talk hear and see
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the course of the workday
  • May be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard-hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable State laws
