Description

Organize, store and retrieve technical information for Freeport-McMoRan and Process Technology Center (PTC) staff. Conduct research, maintain various electronic media, and develop/maintain PTC Intranet site.

  • Manage the classification, cataloging, storage and circulation for special collections of technical books, periodicals, papers, articles and other documents stored on various electronic media
  • Evaluate, select and acquire new materials
  • Serve as a resource to Freeport-McMoRan staff, by conducting research and keeping abreast of current topics
  • Perform literature searches and process technical information requests
  • Develop and maintain the Process Technology Center's Intranet site; develop the format and content of the site, gather and research information that enhances the value of the site for staff
  • Archive departmental reports and technical memoranda on a regular basis
  • Assign, supervise, and review the work of clerks in technical library
  • Perform other duties as required


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Geology, Chemistry, Biology or Engineering, including familiarity with Mining and/or Metallurgy

Preferred

  • Strong Scientific or Engineering background

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is primarily performed in an office setting
  • Must be able to travel primarily to site locations near Tucson and Oro Valley, and occasionally to additional site locations as needed
  • Occasionally work will be performed in a mine or manufacturing plant or outdoor setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, talk, hear and see
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in an outdoor or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/ alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by State laws
