Description

Under moderate supervision, provide Civil Engineering support related to design, construction, and operation of mining equipment foundations, structural steel and building infrastructure. Provide technical advice and guidance for all phases of assigned Engineering projects and programs, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost.

  • Review analyses and designs; and investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned Engineering project
  • Serve as Project Manager or Technical Advisor on small-to-medium projects in area of expertise
  • Evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services
  • Collaborate in site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated Engineering areas
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) for capital funding
  • Perform other duties as required


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related Engineering discipline from an accredited curriculum and three (3) years of experience in an applicable Engineering field of expertise, OR
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related Engineering discipline from an accredited curriculum and two (2) years of experience in an applicable Engineering field of expertise
  • Knowledge in the principles and practices of Civil, Geotechnical, Structural or Hydrologic Engineering or a related field of Science or Engineering
  • Knowledge of appropriate software (MS Office, AutoCAD, RISA 3D)
  • Certified Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to a diversely educated audience
  • Present a positive, professional image
  • Self-motivated, energetic, able to execute, and client-service oriented
  • Be able to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety of yourself and others
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards


Preferred
  • Experience and education in structural analysis and design, including structural steel and the use of the AISC code and structural concrete and the use of the ACI code
  • Advanced degree or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification


Criteria/Conditions
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

Pay Range :

$83,700-$118,000/Annually

Rate of pay dependent on competency, experience, qualifications and skills
