Please note: This position has the possibility to work remotely up to 100% of the time. The position will require occasional travel to the Phoenix corporate offices and/or site locations. This position may be performed anywhere in the U.S. except California, New Hampshire, Michigan, Illinois and New York. Additional states may be excluded from remote work based on business factors. Should the position shift to in-office work in the future, the company will offer relocation benefits at that time should the position meet the established eligibility for these benefits.

Description

Collaborate with assigned teams responsible to maintain and enhance the overall performance and availability of wireless (WLAN) and LAN networks, including indoor wireless, outdoor wireless, and switch/route technologies. Collaborate with assigned teams responsible for applications and/or hardware that leverage and rely on the network medium. Serve as tier 2 technical support for site teams responsible for maintaining these technologies.
  • Provide tier 2 technical support on WLAN and LAN infrastructure. Includes technical support on critical applications and systems.
  • Collaborate with site MIS teams to oversee and assist with WLAN and LAN projects, updates, and planned changes.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of service results and respond to any escalated service delivery issues in a timely manner.
  • Work effectively with other MIS teams and outsourcing provider(s) to ensure technology solutions are effectively managed and performed.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Wireless Engineer(s) and/or Architect to design solutions and create implementation / support models for technology encompassing a specific specialization or platform.
  • Review and/or create reports to ensure all services are completely and successfully delivered. Proactively intervene to correct problems when they are encountered. Use metrics to improve processes.
  • Interface with the business users to elicit and define network communications requirements.
  • Perform other duties as requested
  • Works on complex issues and implements solutions through individual effort buy may delegate more routine tasks to others
  • Often collaborates with functional or site leaders and has some interaction with external colleagues
  • Works under moderate supervision and has some latitude to set objectives, priorities and timelines that may impact department or individual work group
  • Contributes to budget preparation by supplying costs and recommendations
  • Manages a function or specific program(s) or project(s)


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or related field and, four (4) years of experience in the WLAN or LAN networking field, OR
  • High School Diploma or GED and, eight (8) years of experience in WLAN or LAN networking field

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Cisco wireless certifications
  • Cisco network certifications
  • Cambium wireless certifications
  • Certified wireless expert (CWE) certifications
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in indoor or outdoor 802.11 WiFi systems
  • Three (3) or more years of experience with switch/route network protocols
  • Experience with licensed and unlicensed microwave radio systems
  • Experience with wireless site surveys and survey tools (ie. NetAlly or Ekahau)
  • Experience and understanding of 802.11 protocols
  • Extensive understanding of Infrastructure design and support concepts.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator. Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
