Please note: This position has the possibility to work remotely up to 50% of the time. The position will require occasional travel to the Phoenix corporate offices and/or site locations. This position may be performed anywhere in the U.S. except California, New Hampshire, Michigan, Illinois and New York. Additional states may be excluded from remote work based on business factors. Should the position shift to in-office work in the future, the company will offer relocation benefits at that time should the position meet the established eligibility for these benefits.

This in-person position is performed onsite at Freeport-McMoRan's corporate office in Phoenix, Arizona. Description

  • Work on complex State income tax returns and related ASC 740 Reporting.
  • Review, prepare, analyze and coordinate various returns and reports, dictated by different state regulations, deadlines and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare, analyze and complete the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements and other related Income Tax Projects throughout the year.
  • Assist with compliance and tax audit issues.
  • Assist in potential appeal and tax litigation processes.
  • Participate in tax research to ensure the Company is following applicable tax law and regulations.
  • Assist in proactively developing and organizing transactional support documentation and preparing audit responses.
  • Analyze impact of changing tax requirements on current and future operating results.
  • Coordinate and preparation of U.S. state income tax filings, including quarterly estimated tax payments and amended returns as required.
  • Preparation of complex multistate apportionment calculations
  • Monitor and maintain state tax filing calendar.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual state income tax provisions, including model updates for ongoing changes to state income tax law.
  • Perform tax research analysis and planning associated with state income tax laws and regulations.
  • Assist with state income tax audits.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

This position requires air travel.   • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, and at least four (4) years of experience in Tax and/or Accounting; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, and two (2) years of experience as an Accountant for a Big 4 public accounting firm
  • Experience with Adobe and Microsoft Tools (SharePoint, OneDrive, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams & Outlook)
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA preferred
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Tax a plus
  • Helpful experience with the following applications is helpful: Corptax, OneSource (Tax Provision, UTP and Workpapers), SAP, Hyperion, Alteryx, Business Objects, Blackline software applications, BNA, RIA, CCH and other tax and accounting research tools.
  • Experience preparing state income tax returns for consolidated corportaions
