Description

Under general supervision, provides technical expertise, guidance, and leadership in project management. Responsible for coordinating and leading Life Cycle Team with site personnel and applicable outside consultants to develop life of mine (LOM) activities and plans at Freeport sites. Responsible for advancement of water treatment and residual resource programs.
  • Plans, reviews, and analyzes project requirements to establish tasks and subtasks and project timelines. Safely executes tasks and reports to management regarding project status.
  • Assembles and supervises project staff and outside services/expertise as needed. Communicates and coordinates activities and tasks with company personnel. Responsible for "customer satisfaction" associated with a project.
  • Supervise and lead staff to include decisions on hiring, terminations, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Monitors emerging or emerged technologies that provide liability management through water treatment and residual resource programs.
  • Provides guidance for capital and operational cost analyses for projects
  • Evaluates, develops, and applies consistent water treatment best practices
  • Analyzes water characteristics at FMI sites (i.e., surface, groundwater) and evaluates site specific technical alternatives to manage long term water resources through water treatment.
  • Evaluates and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.
  • Evaluates engineering/construction bids
  • Contributes to strategic planning and budgeting efforts for project management
  • Perform other duties as required.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Agriculture, Mining, Metallurgical, Geological or similar) and seven (7) years of engineering experience in environmental management, including project management experience, OR
  • Master's degree in Engineering or related engineering field and five (5) years of engineering experience in environmental management, including project management experience.
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and practices.
  • Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Travel Required: Must be willing to travel domestic & internationally up to 40%
  • This position requires domestic travel including air travel. Criteria/Conditions:
  • Position will require supporting FMI operations in southwest United States, South America, and Indonesia as applicable. Will require up to 40% travel. Position will be based at the Resource management Center in Sahuarita, Arizona.
  • Work may be in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds) during the course of the workday.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
