Description

Responsible for establishing procedures for tracking and monitoring of all rail and/or truck shipments for Freeport-McMoRan's North America facilities ensuring on-time delivery of inbound purchased goods and outbound finished copper products. Oversee and analyze the transportation and distribution system and procedures to ensure the efficient and economical delivery of the organization's products.

  • Proactively track, on a daily basis, every rail and/or truck shipment for all of Freeport-McMoRan's North American facilities
  • Communicate any delays or potential problems to stakeholders
  • Maintain rail and/or truck reporting systems and reconcile all freight and ancillary charges associated with shipments
  • Proactively analyze, develop, and implement procedures to minimize carrier demurrage/detention and shipment costs
  • Serve as the primary contact responsible for resolving rail and/or truck EDI issues
  • Serve as the backup for others in Logistics department as directed by management
  • Perform other duties as required


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience in Transportation, Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, or Engineering, or the related fields, OR
  • Bachelor's degree with no experience required


Preferred
  • SAP experience creating and running reports
  • Understanding or experience with shipping and receiving Smelter Materials
  • Experience with Excel
  • Proficient with Word
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficient with PowerPoint
  • Attention to details


Criteria/Conditions

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Position is in busy, non-smoking office located in Miami, AZ.
  • Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws
