Description

Provides technical knowledge, guidance and advice to Project Management to resolve complex operational issues for all capital projects.

  • Acts as technical leader for project systems
  • Provides technical knowledge to resolve problems
  • Monitors records for Engineering and Construction, to help identify potential and existing problems
  • Having identified a problem determines the root cause and recommends what action should be taken to resolve and/or prevent issues from occurring (or re-occurring)
  • Leads project teams working on identified Project Management systems; team members may be internal or external (vendors or contractors)
  • Serves as technical leader on complex planning
  • Collaborates with Planners and others involved in the project scheduling
  • Keeps abreast of technological improvements in field of knowledge and how these impact capital projects
  • Conducts regular training, in area of technical knowledge, for staff at assigned site, ensuring employees remain up-to-date with technological advances
  • Generates ad hoc reports and analysis for site management
  • May represent the site on company-sponsored steering teams
  • Performs other duties as required


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field, OR
  • High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience in mining industry or manufacturing environment, including project systems experience


Preferred

  • Experience overseeing construction projects from initial design through actual construction
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations
  • Experience with project scheduling software, gantt charts or MS Projects
  • Experience developing project costs and budget monitoring
  • Experience with residential/commercial construction
  • Experience coordinating contractor work to ensure a high level of quality and safety
  • Experience using of AutoCAD
  • High level of experience MS Word and Excel

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds) during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws
