Description

Works under limited supervision and has significant latitude to set objectives, priorities and timelines that may affect a group or functional area within the company. Manages electrical power projects, which may be part of much larger project scopes, including scoping, contracting, engineering design, procurement, and construction management activities within the mining company. Coordinate between many internal and external support groups including operations, legal, contracts, environmental to meet company objectives and advance project in accordance with safety, schedule, and financial expectations.
  • Responsible for planning and implementation of a wide variety of major capital electrical projects on new and existing infrastructure and overseeing/managing all aspects of project execution. Collaborating with and mentoring project teams, site leaders, consultants, grid operators and utilities.
  • Work with and mentor project team members to define service (load or generation) requirements, infrastructure alternatives, project execution strategies, and supporting contractors.
  • Initiate and oversee interconnection activities with utilities and regional transmission organizations, including defining input parameters, study requirements, and interconnection and service agreements.
  • Perform engineering and financial evaluation of major capital project proposals, and emerging technologies.
  • Oversee consultants and contractors engaged in performing services or studies related to transmission, distribution, generation, or load.
  • Responsible for strategic planning and overseeing the execution of the safety, engineering, procurement, construction, and customer service for capital projects within the company.
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of scope, cost, schedule, safety, management, and quality associated with electrical infrastructure projects within the mining company.
  • Manage budget preparation and monitor work performance cost controls for projects.
  • Analyze and recommend solutions to a wide range of problems effecting operations.
  • Support senior project managers in projects with a value in excess of $2 billion
  • Perform other duties as requested


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires international air travel. In accordance with Freeport-McMoRan's requirement for all employees whose job requires international travel, if you are hired you will be required to submit proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to travel by air internationally, unless the company has granted a medical or religious accommodation.
  • High School Diploma and thirteen (13) years of engineering experience in an area or areas relevant to assignment, including supervisory or lead experience as well as prior project management experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related area, and eight (8) years of engineering experience in an area or areas relevant to assignment, including supervisory or lead experience as well as prior project management experience; OR
  • Master's degree in Engineering or closely related area, and six (6) years of engineering experience in an area or areas relevant to assignment, including supervisory or lead experience as well as prior project management experience

Compensation:

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $125,000 - $175,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
