Description

Safely performs duties related to the operation of haul trucks to transport materials from loading areas to processing areas at a highly skilled level.

  • Responsible for:
    • Performing inspections to maximize equipment and tire life and executes assignments from computerized dispatch system and/or two-way radio
    • Understanding changes to assigned work areas and any potential hazards
    • Knowing and performing the following procedures: start-up and shut-down, fueling, fire, runaway, emergency, and accident
    • Safe and skilled performance of the following tasks: spotting at shovel, loading, traveling, dumping on stockpiles, and dumping at crusher
  • Assist with training and mentoring of other equipment operators
  • May also operate other heavy equipment which may include, but is not limited to, water trucks, motor graders, and track and rubber tire dozers
  • May perform and assist with operations support activities such as housekeeping, barricading, cable moves, and ground support activities
  • May perform minor maintenance activities
  • Perform other duties as required


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of mobile equipment operating experience
  • Thorough knowledge of equipment components such as: engine, transmission, planetary final drives, main drive line, nose cone assembly, torque converter, differential and wet disc braking system
  • Thorough knowledge of: ARC, EMS, payload measurement system, and VIMS
  • Knowledge of payload measurement system, over speed alarm, dispatch codes, shovel and truck horn signals, secondary brake, and park brake
  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.


Preferred

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years of experience operating CAT Haul Trucks

  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards


  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment


  • This is a Safety sensitive role


  • Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms


  • Occasionally may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the work day


  • May be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation


  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

Compensation:

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $25.50 - $35.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
