Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for the Company as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. In 2016, the site poured its seven millionth ounce of gold, 20 years into its mine life. The initial Gilmore Expansion Project is expected to extend mine life to 2030.

Job Description

The Dispatch/Technology Engineer is accountable for setting mine Dispatchers up for success through training, setting KPI targets, and optimizing site systems. The Dispatch/Technology Engineer will maintain databases and provide accurate data to the General Foreman's and Superintendent while proposing changes that will help the mine's success to the Operations team. Strong collaborative skills are required to work specifically with the Analyst pool team (Continuous Improvement groups' database, reporting focused members) to produce analytics/KPI transparency and the IT & Dispatch technician teams to ensure software and hardware is optimal within the mine. Individual will be expected to be an example of Kinross's core values .

Job Responsibilities

  • Direct involvement with the Technical Services, Mine operations, Mobile maintenance, Continuous improvement, and IT departments.
  • Embrace learning and vet new technologies as we continue to modernize our sites.
  • Scrutinize the efficiency and effectiveness of systems and reporting to drive better actions within the ore control, Mine operations, and Mobile maintenance teams.
  • Represent the company to external vendors looking to enhance our fleet performance. Most critical vendors will be Wenco (FMS and Maint dispatch provider), CAT + local NC Machinery (major hauling, support, loader equipment + dozer HP GPS), Hitachi + local CMI (Shovel vendor and Wenco parent)
  • Effective in communication with peers, vendors and other employees.
  • Coordinate 24/7 on-call staffing and be capability of providing critical support at all hours
  • Give recommendations based on mine actuals performance to Technical services group to improve planning efficiency
  • Training to include monthly KPI reviews with all dispatchers


  • Education and Experience

    • Past experience of 1+ years in supervisory position preferred
    • Past experience of 2+ years with dispatch systems - Preferably Mining experience with Wenco, Modular, Jigsaw or CAT Minestar. Experience outside mining will be considered if deemed relevant
    • Past experience of 2+ years in mining or heavy industry with the integration interfaces to milling, heap leaching, plannin

  • Ability to write basic custom reports from SQL data and communicate scope of new data joints/connections to pursue such that work can be outsourced to operations analysts when applicable
  • Knowledge, experience, and track record of adhering to and developing policies around optimization strategies, safety, environment, and communication structures
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
