The Kinross Kettle River Operation is located in the State of Washington. The operation mined and processed ore from eight separate deposits in four local production centers. The Buckhorn mine continues to be a flagship operation for the company, having been highly awarded for leadership in low-impact mine development and reclamation.

Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Project & Environmental Superintendent, the incumbent oversees all aspects of electrical systems and programs. Electrician is responsible for management, repair and maintenance of electrical systems while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross values. Must be willing to work shifts, overtime, and callouts and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

1. Provide electrical support and maintenance to multiple Kettle River Operations sites, including surface and underground operations.
2. Safely and effectively install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and instrumentation systems. Systems include drives, pumps, mine load centers, protection systems, metering, PLCs, lighting systems, power distribution centers, switchgear, motors and controls, communications and process controls.
3. Perform high voltage cable terminations, splices and other electrical repairs.
4. Use of machines, hand tools and testing equipment common to the trade. Review electrical blue prints, wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications, and instructions and perform work in accordance and/or advise management team of changes/updates required.
5. Specifying and ordering of parts in accordance with site requirements.
6. Consistently exercise good discretion and judgment in job performance and work without risk or harm to self and others.
7. Identify potentially dangerous electrical aspects; inform supervision & implement appropriate corrective actions.
8. Maintain company-required performance and maintenance records in JDE (and other systems).
9. Maintain compliance with National Electric Code (NEC).
10. Communicate effectively across all levels.
11. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.
12. Performs other job functions and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Education and Experience

1. Electrical training/certification (i.e. college degree, technical degree, Journeyman) or equivalent experience.
2. 5+ years of experience in Industrial Electrical Maintenance; preference for experience in the milling, mining and underground mining work environment.
3. Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).

4. Knowledge and experience managing the requirements of electrical and instrumentation systems, including high voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, & protection relays and programmable logic controls & motor controls circuits.
5. Moving, hauling, and lifting equipment as required by the work being performed.
6. Must be able to meet "Authorized User" requirements for High Risk Activities, including but not limited to Fall Protection and Confined Space, as required by job duties, departments and Company Permit to Work policies.
7. Able to perform work both indoors and outdoors in a general industrial environment.
8. Experienced using MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Project) and JD Edwards.
9. Strong verbal, written, analytical, and time management skills, along with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of stakeholders, employees and management.
10. Able to work independently and also as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
11. Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
12. Must be at least 18-years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
13. Requires valid state driver's license.
