Job Description

Be an active member of the corporate Technical Services Mine Planning Team, collaborating with operations and participating in mining studies, reviews and evaluations. Contribute to a positive work environment and be a strong advocate for technical services

Job Responsibilities

Contribute to or carry out a variety of tasks including but not limited to:
  • Resource and Reserve calculations including optimization, mine design and life of mine scheduling
  • Mine engineering studies including scoping, pre-feasibility, and feasibility studies as well as due diligence review
  • Strategic planning and trade off analysis
  • Works cross-functionally with all disciplines to validate annual budgets and strategic business plans and contribute to the business planning processes
  • Equipment selection studies
  • Cost Modelling and Financial Analysis
  • Regulatory compliance testing
  • Cycle time studies and haulage network development
  • Collaborate to develop block models for mine planning purposes
  • Contribute to the production of technical reports and documentation including documentation of processes and work practices.
  • Support the development of reserve and resource statements
  • Work with site operational, technical and management staff.
  • Work with and manage consultants and contractors as required


Education and Experience

Education
Bachelor of Science in geology, mining engineering, or a related field.

Experience

0-3 years' experience in surface and or underground mining

Skills

  • Knowledge of engineering techniques as they apply to ore body evaluation and mine operations.
  • Basic level of proficiency with mine planning software systems, such as MineSight, Vulcan, Surpac and or NPVscheduler. Exhibit an interest for learning these systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of spreadsheet-based cash flow analysis.
  • Technical report writing and presentation skills.
  • Very strong communications skills. Team player with a strong inclination towards developing cooperative solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 10-30%)
