Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. The Round Mountain Phase W Project is now in production, with first gold poured in May 2019.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Chief Engineer, this person will learn entry-level engineering tasks with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering and/or Blast Engineering while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' values. Project goals will be identified early, based on skills and interest, to support day to day operations and finish with a project deliverable.

Education and Experience

  • Interest and ability to work on highwall design and as-built wall control parameters and/or blast design and quality control.
  • Ability to work and learn to operate instrumentation in the field in a variety of weather conditions and return to the office for data analysis and project development.
  • Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
  • Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
  • Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills
  • Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.
  • Requires valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of 2 years towards engineering or related Bachelor's degree and 0-2 year engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative.
  • Hard working Team Player.
  • Responsible to manage the RMGC Environmental Health and Safety Management system in his/her areas of responsibility.
