Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. The Round Mountain Phase W Project is now in production, with first gold poured in May 2019.

Job Description

Reporting to the Fixed Maintenance Superintendent, the incumbent is responsible for assisting maintenance personnel in day-to-day clerical functions. This includes answering phones, taking notes, ordering supplies, and assisting technicians on computer programs. Must be able to multi-task and perform clerical duties efficiently with minimal supervision. This role will also serve as a liaison between maintenance and all other functional areas including, but not limited to: Operations, Payroll, HR, Ancillaries, Environmental, and Safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical support to the Maintenance department
  • Create and maintain work orders as necessary, including creation and management of PMs
  • Manage Kinross Way Maintenance KPIs
  • Answer phones, transfer calls, take messages, and serve as the backup for other Maintenance Clerks
  • Data entry
  • Schedule meetings
  • Type, copy, and distribute letters, memos, and reports as requested
  • Order supplies as needed
  • Create and update Mine Maintenance forms (Formtool skills required)
  • Maintain a standard level of orderliness and cleanliness in the office
  • Complete progression training as required and attend training classes when possible.
  • Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct
  • Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management
  • Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance

  • Punctuality and regular attendance required
  • Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor


  • Education and Experience

  • Must be proficient in JDE, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft PowerPoint Preferred
  • Should have good general clerical abilities
  • Should work well with employees and outside customers
  • Must be proficient at listening to and understanding others
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required
  • Must have at least one year of clerical experience
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and self-motivation is a must.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
  • Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills
  • Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
  • Requires valid driver's license.
