Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource base located in Nevada. It is the newest mine in Kinross' portfolio and was acquired in January 2016.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Projects Supervisor, the incumbent works in the projects department supporting the access road maintenance and area projects while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' values.

Essential Functions

  • Operates the assigned equipment in support of the access road maintenance effort
  • Provides support in the maintenance of cattle guards, culverts, fencing, and signage
  • Provides support in the maintenance of the man camp and area ranches as required
  • Adheres to the requirements of the road service agreements with Elko and White Pine counties
  • Builds and maintains a positive working relationship with the area ranchers, contractors, and the public that share the access roads to site
  • Provides support to the site departments when opportunities exist
  • Fill out all required paperwork, including pre-operational inspections, FLRA's, and work area inspections
  • Keep work area clean, and tools in good condition
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.
  • Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management
  • Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance
  • Works without risk or harm to self and others
  • Punctuality and regular attendance required
  • Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above
  • Performs other related functions as assigned by supervisor


Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • Possession of a current CDL license and the ability to maintain one is required
  • Qualified to operate the project departments snow play/dump trucks and water trucks is required
  • Qualified to operate the project departments mtor graders and loaders is preferred
  • Qualified to operate additional support equipment is a plus
  • Ability to work in all types of weather/conditions on the assigned shift schedule
  • Familiar in the location of the conty access roads, ranch properties, and water fill stands
  • Familiar in the location of the county borrow pits
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs frequently
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to get along an work well with others
  • Understand procedures regarding road maintenance within the public sector
  • Keep safety as the number one priority
  • Some mechanical background is preferred
  • Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills
  • General understanding of mining operation, as well as limited understanding of maintenance activities
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
