Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for the Company as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. In 2016, the site poured its seven millionth ounce of gold, 20 years into its mine life. The initial Gilmore Expansion Project is expected to extend mine life to 2030.

Job Description

Under the direction of a Human Resources Supervisor, the incumbent serves as the primary point of contact for employees. Provides administrative support to the Human Resource department in the areas assigned within his/her scope of responsibility while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' values.

Job Responsibilities

  • Input into the HRIS system and third party systems information for new and existing employees.
  • Accurate and efficient data entry.
  • Assist with employee training, employee relations, and administration of HR processes.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and judgment.
  • Conduct exit interviews and explain termination of benefits and final pay.
  • Maintain employee files.
  • Audit information in the HRIS system.
  • Perform verification of employment on current and prior employees.
  • Create requisitions and process invoices for the HR Department.
  • Prepares and submits the bi-weekly payroll spreadsheet.
  • May assist with recruitment by scheduling interviews, arranging travel, submitting background checks, and arranging pre-employment physicals.
  • Assist with onboarding to include new hire benefit orientation and 60-day follow-up meetings.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance required.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality, and code of conduct.
  • Works without risk or harm to self and others.
  • Performs other related functions as assigned by supervisor.
  • Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.


Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in the Human Resources field required.
  • 4 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General understanding of HR related policies, practices, and procedures.


Skills

  • Must demonstrate an ability to establish priorities and maintain deadlines under multiple time pressure.
  • Must possess the ability to work accurately and efficiently with a minimum amount of direct supervision.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Strong knowledge of PC based systems required, including Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • General understanding of mining preferred.
  • JDE experience preferred.
