Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource base that was acquired by Kinross in January 2016. The mine is located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. The Bald Mountain Vantage Complex Project has commenced production, and the first gold bar was poured in June 2019.

KG Mining (Bald Mountain), Inc. seeks a Senior Reliability Engineer in Spring Creek, NV.

Work You'll Do

Overseeing the activities for mining development sites of the Planning and Reliability departments , including Non-Destructive Testing team, Machine Health, Warranty Management, Drill and Shovel, Haul and Support. Increasing overall efficiencies of the maintenance departments and site equipment. Recommending equipment maintenance strategies that are engineered to maximize site-wide asset performance while continuously aligning daily functions in compliance with Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) standards. Utilizing knowledge of vibration analysis, thermal imaging, oil analysis, ultrasonic testing, UE systems and flaw detection. Reporting on asset health and maintenance program effectiveness to management. Responsible for the creation and submission of the annual maintenance budget. Assisting with cost estimates/generation of capital Authorization For Expenditure (AFE)'s for maintenance. Demonstrating understanding in mining and maintenance operations, including hauling, loading, drilling, support fleets, milling, and crushing. Coordinating multiple condition-monitoring technologies, including vibration analysis, thermal imaging, oil analysis, ultrasonic testing, UE systems, and magnetic particle. Analyzing historical downtime data from dispatching systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) maintenance logs with ReportsNow, Microsoft Power BI, Jview, and MicroStrategy to improve maintenance practices. Improving maintenance strategy utilizing reliability and maintenance tools, including reliability centered maintenance (RCM), root cause failure analysis (RCA), failure modes effects and criticality analysis (FMECA), and risk-based inspection (RBI). Preparing equipment technical assessment reports using machine health technologies, including CAT MineStar Health, myKomatsu, PreVail, CAT SOS and Oil Commander for mining, engineering, and management personnel. Performing mining equipment Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis for equipment maintenance decisions. Conducting worksite hazard assessments to ensure compliance with Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and equivalent standards. The position supervises 7 direct reports: 4 technicians, 2 maintenance dispatchers, and 1 planning supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering (any) or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in the offered position or a position in a related occupation.
  • Must have three years of experience with:
    • Demonstrating understanding in mining and maintenance operations, including hauling, loading, drilling, support fleets, milling, and crushing;
    • Coordinating multiple condition-monitoring technologies, including vibration analysis, thermal imaging, oil analysis, ultrasonic testing, UE systems, and magnetic particle;

  • 5% monthly or bi-monthly travel required to Component Rebuild Centers in Reno, NV, Salt Lake City, UT, and Gillette, WY to technically evaluate capital powertrain components condition and assess rebuild quotes.
