In 2016, the site poured its seven millionth ounce of gold, 20 years into its mine life. The initial Gilmore Expansion Project is expected to extend mine life to 2030.

Job Description

Provide daily technical support to the Ore Processing Department for troubleshooting and correcting metallurgical and production problems. Has specific responsibility for optimization of mill reagent usage. Continue to maintain and improve the standards of the metallurgical lab, both in function and housekeeping while supporting the safety culture of the department.

Job Responsibilities

  • Works with the Ore Processing Department daily to assist in troubleshooting and solving metallurgical problems.
  • Fills in for the Senior Metallurgist in his/her absence and therefore assumes responsibility of refinery operation and metal production.
  • Responsible for routine metallurgical testing, monitoring, control, and optimization of the operation.
  • Develops and executes Lab and plant test programs for improvement of plant metallurgical performance.
  • Monitors and evaluates metallurgical performance of the mill and heap leach designs and executes test programs for improving metal recovery, throughput, and costs.
  • Responsible for preparation of monthly status and final reports on all metallurgical projects.
  • Responsible for all of the department's metallurgical accounting functions including sampling and data collection programs, calculations, and databases for daily, monthly, and annual reports.
  • Responsible for mill and heap leach reagent consumption reports.
  • Has direct responsibility for mill sampling systems and practices.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the state.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Education and Experience

  • Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, capable of performing difficult mathematical calculations, and keeping records.
  • Bachelor of Science in metallurgical engineering or related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in operations (milling or heap leaching), including two years in precious metals.


Skills

  • Must have strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Attention to detail, a clear sense of priorities, and effective time management skills.
  • Must be a production oriented, self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Strong working knowledge and skills with a PC utilizing word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • May work holidays, shift work, and weekends as required.
