The Kinross Kettle River-Buckhorn Operation is located in the State of Washington. The operation mines and processes ore from eight separate deposits in four local production centers. The Buckhorn mine continues to be a flagship operation for the company, having being highly awarded for leadership in low-impact mine development.

Job Description

Buckhorn (BH) is a reclamation site with water treatment operations. Under the general supervision of the Project & Environmental Superintendent, the incumbent performs maintenance on mobile and fixed equipment, and pumping and piping systems. Additionally, this position requires equipment and water treatment system operation, and will perform work while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' values. Must be willing to work shifts, overtime, respond to callouts and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

1. Provide maintenance support to multiple Kettle River Operations sites, including surface and underground operations.
2. Operate mobile equipment (e.g. road grader, snow plow, or water truck).
3. Maintain, operate, and monitor systems of pumps, pipes, and ponds.
4. Operate support equipment (overhead cranes and forklifts, backhoe, excavator or loader).
5. Skilled use of equipment, tools, and testing equipment common to the trade.
6. Complete basic mechanical projects.
7. Be able to work alone.
8. Assist with more detailed or involved mechanical projects.
9. Lube and oil change of equipment, as well as correctly manage new and used products.
10. Respond to equipment emergencies on a 24-hour basis as required.
11. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.
12. Lifting and loading weights up to 50 lbs.
13. Maintain company required performance and maintenance records in JDE (and other systems).
14. Learn to operate Reverse Osmosis water treatment systems as a back-up operator.
15. Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.
16. Consistently exercises good discretion and judgment in job performance and work without risk or harm to self and others.
17. Punctuality and regular attendance required.
18. Help develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.
19. Performs other job functions and tasks as assigned by supervisor, at this site or other sites.

Education and Experience

1. Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience; preference for experience in the mining, milling, and underground mining environments.
2. Able to perform work both indoors and outdoors in a general industrial environment, including work in adverse weather conditions.
3. Able to meet the physical and mental demands of the position.
4. Demonstrate willingness to help with any job.
5. Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Perform environmental sampling.
7. Able to operate forklifts, grader and other equipment.
8. Keep yards, storage warehouses and bins clean and organized.
9. Possess mechanical skills, and cutting and welding experience and techniques.
10. Knowledge of lubing equipment, and the processes for storing and disposing of oil.
11. Perform pipe HDPE pipe welding
12. Perform plumbing (HDPE, threaded, Victaulic, PVC, etc.).
13. Ability to perform basic carpentry and painting.
14. Demonstrate basic knowledge in mechanical and environmental inspections.
15. Demonstrate good housekeeping practices.
16. Moving, hauling, and lifting as required by the work being performed.
17. General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling maintenance operations.
18. Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
19. Comprehend and carry out written and verbal instructions in English.
20. Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
21. Must be able to carry out daily work assignments with a minimum of supervision.
22. Must be able to have maintenance completed on a timely basis.
23. Must be able to prepare pertinent documentation and records for all work performed.
24. Must be able to meet "Authorized User" requirements for High Risk Activities, including but not limited to Fall Protection and Confined Space, as required by job duties, departments and Kettle River Operation's Permit to Work policies.
25. Ability to work independently and also as a member of the maintenance team.
26. Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.
27. Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.
28. Have or be able to get a commercial driver's license (CDL).
29. Requires valid state driver's license.
30. Be willing to live in the area of the job (northeastern Washington state, Ferry or Okanogan Counties preferred).
