Job Description

Coordinate activities related to Human Resource services and to ensure service and / or operating standards are met (internally and / or externally). Contribute to the design and development of processes, practices, and methodologies in Human Resources.

Job Responsibilities

  • Part of the Corporate HR team that provides support for the employees and managers for the Corporate office in Toronto and The Hague
  • Supports the onboarding and orientation process for new employees for the Corporate office and provides training as needed to ensure new employees are properly set up on payroll and benefits
  • Coordinates off-boarding process for terminated employees and conducts exit interviews as required
  • Works with the Total Rewards to evaluate roles; analyze and create compensation recommendations for new employees, promotions, or salary adjustments; and on ad hoc requests as needed
  • Supports the annual compensation process by assisting with year-end compensation reviews as it relates to the Toronto and The Hague offices
  • Independently handles routine employee relations issues or enquiries relating to benefits, pension, compensation, vacation, performance, recruitment, and systems
  • Stays current on best practices and trends related to HR, and incorporates this information into work assignments
  • Supports the development and implementation of human resource policies and practices in Canada
  • Produces and/or reviews manuals and other written materials related to various HR policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations to be communicated
  • Responsible for maintaining and auditing Canadian employee vacation entitlement; coordinating the vacation carried forward process and working with the IT team to make appropriate updates in the vacation tool; communicating splash week entitlements to employees; and sending reminders to use carried forward days before the expiry date
  • Analyzes and interprets information related to exit interviews, accident reports, and benefits claims
  • Leads the Canadian immigration and relocation processes and works with the HR Business Partner (HRBP) and Global Mobility team as required
  • Supports the payroll process and team for Canada by reviewing changes at bi-weekly meetings, updating the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), processing reimbursements, identifying corrections, managing benefits reimbursement entitlements, notifying the payroll team of updates to contributions and/or matches, and answering employee payroll-related inquiries as needed in collaboration with the HRBP
  • Liaises with third-party vendors or providers to schedule, develop, and coordinate employee education sessions and initiatives including but not limited to: lunch-and-learns, health and wellness sessions, and financial education week
  • Manages vendor contracts
  • Prepares documents and information requests for audits, as required
  • Responds to government or third-party inquiries regarding employment or termination of employees
  • Responsible for ensuring that workplace safety procedures are being followed and addressed as required


Education and Experience

Required Qualifications Education:
  • University degree or diploma in Business, Human Resources, or related discipline
  • Additional specialized education of up to 2 years
  • Professional in Human Resources (e.g., CHRP, CPHR, PHR, SPHR) certification preferred


Required Qualifications Experience:
  • 3 - 5 years of related work experience or equivalent
  • Previous experience in the mining industry is preferred
