Job Description

To perform treasury activities, primarily focused on cash management and liquidity planning, banking, the Treasury management system, and letters of credit. To some extent following established policies, practices and procedures when completing work assignments. Also to contribute to the design and development of processes and best practices within the department.

Job Responsibilities

  • Management of cash flows for various entities, including short term cash flow forecasting and planning by business entity to ensure cash requirements are met on a timely basis. Partner with Finance when required.
  • Execution of spot FX transactions where and when required.
  • Perform daily reconciliation of corporate controlled bank accounts in the Treasury System.
  • Enter into money market transactions to invest surplus cash in accordance with the investment policy.
  • Continuously monitor counterparty credit risk exposures.
  • Provide support to all business entities for cash management, cash calls, and investment requirements.
  • Prepare short and medium term liquidity forecast to assist with liquidity planning.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the quarterly treasury report.
  • Work with banks to resolve day-to-day issues.
  • Ensure compliance with Treasury's policies and procedures.
  • Assist Assistant Treasurer with maintaining and updating relevant Treasury controls and related documentation.
  • Process various wire and metal transfers (external and intercompany); update and maintain wire transfer templates.
  • Assists internal auditors with audit requests.
  • Assist with implementation and planning of the Tax group's funding and restructuring plans.
  • Manage and maintain the Treasury Management System, ensuring it remains current as bank accounts and business units are added or removed.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations relating to letters of credit

Scope of Responsibility & Copmlexity

Work is performed under general direction according to some set methodologies and processes. Work is moderately complex involving some standard assignments as well as unique requirements related to specific transactions. Outcomes are reviewed in terms of adherence to general policies, accuracy of methods, and general efficiency. Problem resolution involves using judgment to select methods and handle deviations from standard methods and practices. Work impacts the quality and integrity of results in the unit or team, the mine sites, as well as overall corporate decisions relating to liquidity and financing needs. Assistance for unusual situations is provided. Management is readily available to provide direction and guidance.

Education and Experience

  • University graduate, Finance or Economics
  • 2 to 5 years of related work experience
  • Worked within a complex, international Treasury
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Powerpoint
  • Experience with using and/or implementing Treasury Management Systems considered a strong asset
  • Knowledge or experience with financial instruments (money market, FX, letters of credit) and related documents
  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail

  • Good organizational skills, including ability to prioritize effectively and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to learn quickly and to undertake a variety of assignments
