Job Description

To account and oversee activities related to all aspects of the accumulation and compilation of financial data for financial reporting, to ensure accounting service and/or operating standards are met (internally and externally). To ensure timely and accurate recording of all transactions, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting, financial reporting, dealing with external and internal audits and compliance, managing the processing of all subledger transactions. To comply with and to recommend improvements for processes, practices, and methodologies in accounting

Job Responsibilities

  • To oversee activities related to accounting and reporting of multiple entities
  • Prepare journals and account for all entries in General Ledger based on input from invoices, transaction documentation, payroll provider, management of the Company and other relevant sources. Work closely with AP Accountant to account for AP subledger entries.
  • Independently prepare and coordinate the execution of month, quarter and year-end accounting and reporting procedures for each legal entity under this role's supervision.
  • Responsible for monthly consolidation reporting through KARS (Kinross Advanced Reporting System) for each legal entity under this role's supervision.
  • Responsible for balance reconciliations within accounting system and creating monthly balance specifications for review.
  • Using advanced professional knowledge, acts as an advisor to a variety of internal and / or external requests regarding cost analysis and financial statements.
  • Propose new work approaches, methods, and policies to optimize performance and to ensure adherence to the Company's and best industry regulations and organizational standards.
  • Coordinate preparation of the annual reports, financial statements and work with internal and external auditors.
  • Coordinate preparation and submission of the external reports (including VAT and corporate income tax returns prepared with assistance of external advisors).
  • Contribute to the development of policies and practices related to accounting.
  • Keep on top of trends related to internal accounting and incorporate this information into work assignments.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to financial procedures and controls to maximize operational efficiencies.
  • Actively seek mentorship and learning to improve technical knowledge and skill set.
  • Act as a back-up partner for the other Sr. Accountant dedicated to KGML.
  • Prepare and analyze intercompany invoices, various management reports and account reconciliations and ensure the accurate and timely reporting of all monthly financial information
  • Oversee cash flow management in close contact with Treasury manager
  • Prepare internal financial statements and segment reports
  • Support budget and forecasting activities
  • Is involved in daily gold trading activities in approval workflow and accounting of trade settlements
  • Work to support other projects within the area of expertise as may be assigned by Accounting manager
  • Review standard journal entries of junior staff and provide guidance on escalated issues. Act as a resource for the team, providing training support and mentoring to team members
  • To analyze internal financial results for use in management decision making
  • Investigate, research, and analyze information and issues related to accounting and reporting
  • To communicate information related to cost analyses, accounting and financial statements
  • Provide information on operating standards, compliance requirements, and policies
  • Assist management with cost analysis
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with key business partners and other stakeholders
  • Effectively communicate and respond to inquiries from Accounting manager, Directors and other internal and authorized external stakeholders regarding financial results and special reporting requests


Education and Experience

Education
  • HBO (higher professional education) or University graduation or diploma
  • Formal professional or technical designation in appropriate area of expertise


Experience
  • 5-10 years of related work experience
  • Experience dealing with multiple entities (currently around 15)


Skills

  • Team player
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Sound understanding of controllership, full cycle internal accounting and reporting
  • Excel expert and affinity with accounting and reporting software (JD Edwards, EnterpriseOne is preferred)
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Fluent in English
  • Organizational skills to identify, prioritize, and meet strict and challenging deadlines
