Job Description

This person will be working closely with the EPCM consultant and other members of the Owner's team, co-ordinate the study work and detailed engineering for the execution for the Udinsk Gold project. The role will jointly report to the Project Director and the corporate Director of Engineering.

Job Responsibilities

• Co-ordinate the review of the engineering project documents (standards, specifications, data sheets, PIDs, layout drawings, other drawings, procurement packages, construction packages) by the Owner's Team to assure they meet project objectives.
• Assist Project Director in cost, scope and schedule control of the EPCM firm.
• Detail monitoring of the progress of the engineering deliverables and engineering work packages by EPCM firm. Expedite the EPCM firm and the Owner's team to stay on track.
• Ensure that EPCM firm is adhering to the Engineering Execution Plan
• Assist in development of the detailed project execution schedule, interface with the Project Controls team.
• Review together with rest of Owner's project team the capital cost estimate prepared by the EPCM consultant.
• Assist commercial teams with technical support in procurement efforts,
• Collaborate with cross functional teams and influence others to achieve project goals without direct authority.
• Interface with Site Operations team to provide input to the detailed engineering.

Scope of Responsibility & Complexity
• Provide day to day oversight of the engineering work of the EPCM consultant.
• Seek and implement opportunities to add value to the project.
• Problem resolution involves a high degree of independent judgement to interpret policy in situations where considerable variation in interpretation is possible.
• Ensures quality standards are upheld for all engineering.
• Ensures systems and programs are in place to identify and manage risks and liabilities that may be associated with the projects
• Collaborates with senior management and peers to identify and analyze risks and opportunities related to the function, and the implications to projects; identifies gaps and implements agree upon solutions for an overall aligned strategy
• Prepares business cases and reports regarding projects and initiatives and presents recommendations and status updates to key stakeholders
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams and considers the business impact of decisions on diverse groups; influences others to achieve project goals often without direct authority
• Maintains awareness of and manages progress on deliverables compared to established schedule and budget.

Education and Experience

• Significant previous experience in mining including a good understanding of mining and ore processing equipment;
• 15+ years of related work experience;
• Experience in managing engineering teams for large projects. This includes development and management of scope of work, schedules, budget as well as co-ordination of different engineering disciplines. Working with engineering consultants, vendors, contractors and other stakeholders;
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably mechanical or process engineering; registration in a professional association desirable
• Exposure to various engineering disciplines;
• Previous leadership experience
• Experience with sizing, selection, engineering, and installation of key mechanical components of ore processing plants and preferably construction experience as well
• Experience with EPCM, EPC and other projects, preferably on both sides (owner and EPCM/EPC);
• Ability to work independently as well as part of large multi-disciplinary teams;
• International experience, especially Russia and/or CIS countries, a plus;
