Job Description

The MEM Reliability Engineer report to MEM Planning and Reliability Superintendent within the MEM department and is responsible for Identify, develop and lead initiatives to improve performance of the mobile fleet to achieve the goal by maximizing the availability, maintainability and reliability of such assets

Job Responsibilities

Includes but not limited to:
• Implement and maintain a continuous process of eliminating equipment failures to improve reliability.
• Assist in the education of operators in the operation of equipment and the way specific behaviors affect the reliability (total productive maintenance).
• Utilize machine health and oil analysis data to derive insight on equipment condition and initiate action to pre-empt failures
• Analyze the criticality of equipment by using the risk matrix based on the failure consequences and their likelihood considering their impact on the safety, environment, production and maintenance costs
• Understand and apply reliability methodologies such as RCA, RCM, FMECA. Lead groups and facilitate workshops where the methodologies are applied, aimed eliminating failures or updating maintenance strategies
• Works with maintenance teams to develop practical solutions or equipment modifications aimed at increasing equipment reliability
• Analyze the history of equipment failures and apply modeling techniques to characterize failure behavior over time and update maintenance strategies accordingly
• Support the planners in developing and / or updating maintenance plans and strategies. Generate backlog jobs based on reliability analysis, condition monitoring or oil sampling data
• Measure, analyze and communicate the business impact of operational losses of critical equipment on a weekly or monthly basis
• Establish trends and provide feedback to mine maintenance and operational leadership about how actual performance compares to the goals and effectively support management decisions related to fleet maintenance

• Oversee oil analysis program by keeping an up to date schedule of sample required, while also giving recommendations on additional sampling as equipment or component condition requires it.
• Maintain and oversee the record keeping of oil samples
• Understand the life cycle costing of critical equipment to ensure that improvements have a positive effect on the total cost of ownership. Prepare TCO analysis to support rebuild / replace decision making
• Manage the NDT program towards maximizing the effectiveness in the identification of potential failures and effectively communicate findings.
• Record all projects to improve reliability in the maintenance management system or a dedicated database, keeping a library with actions for equipment improvement
• Assist the long-term planning to ensure that all critical equipment have lists of materials properly encoded in the maintenance management system
• Assist with warranty claims due to faulty components for critical equipment
• Search for new analytical techniques that lead to improved reliability of mobile equipment.
• Compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality and environmental policies
• Meet or exceed expected performance as set by management
• Possession of a valid Driver license issued by the State
• Work without risk for self and others
• Maintain accurate records and files
• Consistent exercise of discretion and judgment in job performance

Education and Experience

Mandatory Requirements for this position:
• Degree in Engineering, BT or BTS. Preferably in mechanical / maintenance disciplines
• Three to five years of experience in maintenance and/or operations of Industrial activities related to heavy Industry (With preference in mining and/or oil and gas). Continuous Improvement experience considered an asset.
• Experience in any of the following positions: Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Planner, Project engineer, Reliability engineer
• Knowledge in the use of Non Destructive Techniques like: Ultrasound, Thermography, Vibrations, etc.
• Experience in the use of SIS or equivalent
• Experience in the use of JD Edwards or equivalent and other fleet management software (MMRS, Mine Star, Machine Health, etc.)
• Proficient in MS Excel and other Microsoft Office suite of applications
• Able to function effectively in a fast paced, team oriented work environment
• Good communication skill with individuals within and outside MEM department
• Read and write French or Arabic with intermediate level in English ( reading and writing)

Desirable Skill, Knowledge, Training, and Experience:
• General understanding of mining operations
• Anticipates consequences and risks with a medium and long term vision
• Show initiative and maturity to analyze and solve problems
• Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team
• Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills
• Driver license essential.
