The Kinross Kettle River Operation is located in the State of Washington. The operation mined and processed ore from eight separate deposits in four local production centers. The Buckhorn mine was a flagship operation for the company, having being highly awarded for leadership in low-impact mine development. KRO manages several properties in various stages of activity, including care and maintenance, closure, and exploration.

Job Description

The position is responsible for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of health
and safety programs that support the Kettle River and ROBU Operations. Responsible for ensuring that
workplace practices comply with federal, state and company standards and, together with the site
leadership team, promote activities designed to maintain and to improve health and safety throughout the
operation.

Job Responsibilities

1. Lead the development and implementation of health and safety objectives, processes, programs and
initiatives across the sites.
2. Serve as the company health & safety (H&S) liaison with local, state and federal regulatory agencies, as
well as our strategic partners.
3. Ensure compliance and manage safety statistics, abatements and filings with the Occupational Safety
and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), and Kinross
standards.
4. Administer the security program and manage the 3rd party security contractor.
5. Ensure health, safety and security programs and supporting plans are developed, communicated,
implemented and reviewed; advise and support the site team on such matters.
6. Coordinate with site teams to continually improve health safety, and security performance through the
identification of risks and opportunities. Manage, review and assess health & safety data as a tool for
continuous improvement.
7. Together with the site leadership team, lead and support the implementation and continuous
improvement of the Health, Safety and Security programs to mitigate risk, prevent injuries, meet
regulatory requirements and protect people, property and the environment across the sites.
8. Facilitate and participate in the development, implementation and ongoing review of risk assessments,
the site risk register and control plans.
9. Coordinate the Critical Risk Management program.
10. Development and implementation of crisis and emergency management planning, coordination, and
incident response.
11. Coordinate with supervisors and employees regarding safe operating procedures and the management
of written standards and procedures.
12. Participate in department inspections and audits, including coordination and communication with
employees regarding ideas and issues.
13. Participate in detailed incident investigations and root cause analysis.

Education and Experience

1. Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant discipline, or suitable combination of experience and
education.
2. 7+ years of health & safety experience, with five years of experience in the mining industry.
Underground hardrock mining experience preferred.
3. Applied knowledge of relevant OSHA, MSHA, state and other regulatory requirements, as-well-as
industry standards and practices.
4. MSHA instructor (underground and surface); experienced in developing and conducting health & safety
training.
5. Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
6. Able to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of stakeholders, employees and
management. Demonstrated leadership skills.
7. Able to work independently as-well-as part of a multi-disciplinary team, with a strong inclination
towards developing co-operative solutions.
8. Must be able to work with other people, capable of multi-tasking, and be self-motivated.
9. Experienced with leadership, supervision, coaching and performance evaluation systems.
10. Experienced with systems established to manage regulatory obligations.
11. Experienced using MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Project), SharePoint and
JD Edwards.
12. Applies commercial rigor and discipline to all business decisions .
13. Aligns behavior, decisions, and actions with Kinross values and principles.
14. May work call-out, holidays, weekends, and shift work as required.
15. Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.
16. Requires valid US driver's license.
