Job Description

The Cloud SecOps team is currently growing to support the deployment of new and existing cloud systems. The Cloud Administrator will be responsible for building, operating and securing Cloud IaaS and PaaS environments and support the security of SaaS applications in accordance with Kinross standards and security best practices. The focus of this role is to operate and maintain the cloud platform while supporting the implementation of security controls to protect Kinross systems and data hosted in the cloud. The Cloud Administrator will work standard business hours and will be required to respond to after-hours emergencies as necessary.

Job Responsibilities

Cloud Platform Administration
  • Work within a cross-functional team of system administrators, security analysts, data engineers and business analysts to build, operate and secure cloud platforms and applications.
  • Create and maintain cloud resources including virtual networks, gateways, application services, and storage.
  • Support the implementation of new cloud initiatives and migration of applications to the cloud platform.
  • Support the integration of cloud applications with other systems.
  • Document processes and procedures concerning the cloud platforms and cloud deployments.
  • Provide support and resolve technical issues related to the cloud platforms.
  • Validation & execution of backup tasks and disaster recovery processes.
  • Liaise with cloud providers on issues or questions regarding cloud infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines to cloud environments.

Cloud Security
  • Collaborate on security assessments of in-house and vendor managed cloud initiatives.
  • Manage user access to SaaS applications deployed at Kinross.
  • Implement and manage security controls protecting the cloud systems.
  • Research and analyze the latest capabilities of specific information security (e.g. cloud services, encryption, PKI etc.) and IT technologies (e.g. operating systems, networks, storage, virtualization etc.)
  • Monitor deployed cloud resources for performance and security.
  • Document processes and procedures concerning the security of the cloud platforms and cloud deployments.


Education and Experience

Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in IT or Computer Science
  • One or more Cloud Security certifications (e.g. CCSP) certification through (ISC)² or Cloud Security Alliance

Minimum Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in a Cloud Administrator, Cloud Security or similar roles
  • Experience with supporting web application technologies such as TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, HTTP, DNS, routing, load balancing, CDNs, etc.
  • Experience securing cloud platforms and applications.
  • Experience managing or working with an IaaS platform such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with cloud-native SaaS solution management
  • Experience managing Windows Server and Linux-based operating systems
  • Experience managing virtual machines, containers, microservices, backup solutions

Valued experience
  • Experience with APIs (design, authentication, authorization).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code solutions.
  • Experience with security risk assessments.


Skills

  • Abilities to work independently and to manage time effectively
  • Knowledge of compliance standards such as NIST, ISO, GDPR, PIPDA, HIPPA, etc.
  • Effective communication skills with an appreciation for the appropriate ways to interact with managers, coworkers, customers, and vendors
  • Excellent attention to detail, as the successful candidate must constantly monitor systems to ensure there are no threats
  • Ability to work off hours as necessary
  • Ingenuity and strong problem-solving skills to deal with threats or flaws in networks
  • Strong organizational skills
