In 2016, the site poured its seven millionth ounce of gold, 20 years into its mine life. The initial Gilmore Expansion Project is expected to extend mine life to 2030.

Job Description

Provide administrative assistance for Mobile Equipment Maintenance and departments across the Fort Knox Mine. Maintain records and files, computer input, tour and event coordination and other related duties as assigned. Continue to improve and streamline the administrative processes and continuously align daily functions to reflect Kinross' values.

Job Responsibilities

1. Provide advice and assistance to various departments.
2. Maintain various departments' records and files and retrieve information as required.
3. Maintain electronic filing systems for various departments to fulfill obligations of permitting, reporting and general record upkeep.
4. Maintain safety and training records and assist in organizing regular safety meetings for the group.
5. Coordinate school tours and assist with other community tours as requested.
6. Champion and serve as the main point of contact for on-site or other internal events or campaigns such as Annual MSHA refresher, Family Day, LOVA, wellness programs and Clean-up Day.
7. Attend community events, conventions and conferences as appropriate.
8. Serve as a Log keeper during EMQ Crisis Communication trainings or actual events.
9. Coordinate and champion external site sponsored events such as fundraising campaigns, Golden Days Parade, Youth Safety Day and Mining Day at the Fair, as requested.
10. Become a Certified Drug Collector to assist with site drug collection needs.
11. Keep Admin lunchroom and Main Conference room stocked.
12. Use JDE to create, manage and release work orders and requisitions.
13. Maintain monthly and yearly work orders for multiple departments.
14. Attend meetings and prepare minutes as requested by departments.
15. Estimated travel based on current job requirements is (5-10%).
16. Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.
17. Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.
18. Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
19. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
20. Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
21. Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the state.
22. Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct hazards.
23. Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
24. Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
  • General understanding of exploration operations.
  • General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
  • Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing work processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and also as a member of the shared services team.
  • Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
  • Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
