General Maintenance Mechanic

Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company's portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross' Nevada operations.

The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.

Job Description

Under the general supervision of the General Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent performs maintenance on a variety of machinery and structures throughout the mine property, and in the company owned housing.

Job Responsibilities

• Must be capable of doing a thorough inspection on equipment.
• Must be able to recognize potential problems.
• Operate fusing machine on drisco pipe
• Maintenance on dewatering wells and manifolds.
• Rig loads for lifting.
• Practice safety at all times, especially when running or working on overhead gantry cranes.
• Operate backhoe properly in all open field conditions.
• Operate dump truck, ditch witch, forklift, and manlift.
• Comply with all MSHA and SVCO safety regulations.
• Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.
• Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.
• Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.
• Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.
• Works without risk or harm to self and others.
• Punctuality and regular attendance required.
• Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Education and Experience

• Ability to perform the main functions of the job, including operating the fusing machine, rig loads for lifting, etc. And demonstrate.
• Demonstrate willingness to help with any job.
• Comprehend and carry out written and verbal instructions.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge in mechanical and hydraulic equipment inspections.
• Able to operate backhoe properly in all conditions.
• Able to operate dump truck, ditch witch, forklift, and manlift.
• Demonstrate good housekeeping practices.
• Welding required. (will have to pass a welding test)
• Carpentry experience required.
• Plumbing experience required.
• Requires a valid driver license.
• Water well experience required.
• Table saw, Radial arm saw experience required.
• Rigging and lifting experience required.
• Must be able to meet "Authorized User" requirements for High Risk Activities, including but not limited to Fall Protection and Confined Space, as required by job duties, departments and Round Mountain Gold Corporation's Permit to Work policies.

All maintenance positions include an annual clothing and tool allowance.

Wages are based upon experience ($34.71 - 44.32/hour)
