Our client is a global base metals company with a wide spectrum of exploration and production projects in North America, Australia, and Europe. The are recruiting for a Sr. Metallurgist for their flagship zinc operation in Tennessee, USA

Responsibilities
- Coordinate with production personnel to ensure the Mill operates to optimum metallurgical standards.
- Determine processing improvements (physical plant design or process changes from conceptual to implementation in line with targets and long-term operational strategy)
- Develop metallurgical improvements through conceptualization of improvement items through to planning and execution in an organized and clear process.
- Identify and provide solutions for quality problems found by inspection and test planning.
- Lead process continual improvement be it coaching and mentoring the operating teams or physical improvement to the process units within the plant.
- Oversee assaying and assay lab. Develop lab process/procedures
- Promote development of junior technical staff and succession planning with regards to technical support
- Provide technical input to improve the quality of work in the technical section and the metallurgical laboratory.
- Provide technical support where product and process developments are implemented to ensure optimum concentrate quality meeting company smelting and marketing objectives.
- Set clear performance objectives, providing regular feedback and development through coaching and training of employees in the production teams
- Specific bench testing and plant testing or plant surveys are the responsibility of the Senior Metallurgist to lead, drive and arrive at recommended overall process improvements.
- Support development of operational staff (hourly and salary) through training and technical knowledge sharing.
Skills & Experience
- Metallurgy or relevant degree.
- 8-10 yrs. experience in a plant Metallurgist role with 3 years at a senior metallurgist level.
- Experience in base metals and flotation plant environments.
- Hands on experience in plant operation (from successive operating roles or through project management or plant operational improvement projects)
- Strong troubleshooting abilities leading up to creative solutions within budgetary tolerance.
- Strong project management experience.
