Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role

Schedule: 7 /7 – 12 hour days

Position Reports To: Construction Supervisor

Position Overview

The Fuel/Lube/Labourer (Construction) will provide general support to the Rainy River Construction Team. This temporary (3 month) position will be based at the Rainy River Mine. Preference will be given to local applicants who reside in the Rainy River District.

Key Responsibilities

  • The successful applicant will be responsible for fuelling and refilling of lube and grease on heavy equipment
  • Light vehicle fuel levels and basic service checks.
  • Heavy construction equipment may include front-end loaders, dozers, excavators, haul trucks and other pieces of equipment.
  • Perform circle checks of equipment and clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Incumbent will be tasked with maintaining seacans in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Maintain laydown to meet environmental standards as per mine regulations, ie: spill trays, waste removal.
  • Assist with site prep as required, ie: light plants, spill trays, delineators, signage.
  • Keep track and maintain inventory of required supplies.
  • Assist with Instrumentation raises as required, ie: run hand packer, remove waste, cut HDPE pipe.
  • Some manual labour and lifting as required, ie: geo cloth, unloading supplies, waste removal, survey assistance with stakes.


Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma/GED preferred
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Attention to detail and self-starter
  • Demonstrated leadership in safety.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as individually.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment, including dozer, excavator, and shovel, in an open pit mining operation is an asset but not a requirement.
  • Completed Ontario Common Core Training or equivalent is an asset but not required.
  • Physical fitness is an asset as some manual labour is required.
