Globe 24-7 in partnership with Newcrest Mining, is working together to source experienced and qualified talent to join their Asset Management team on Lihir island to support their Lihir Gold Operations (LGO).

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Senior Engineer - Mechanical to join the Asset Management team at Lihir. Reporting to the Superintendent - Mechanical, you will provide technical expertise with specialist advice and support to the Asset Management teams for the resolution of equipment performance, maintenance issues and structural integrity of processing plant, infrastructure and assets.

To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:
  • 3-5 years relevant work experience in fixed plant maintenance in heavy industry, preferably minerals processing is essential.
  • Tertiary qualified Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Certificate in Workplace Assessment & Training or similar is desirable.
  • Previous background in Autoclave is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in pressure vessels, understanding of return to service programs for pressure vessels, statutory compliance, material selection, pox circuits, complex acid plants and process plants, high-pressure pipework and vessels.
  • Sound knowledge on budgeting, forecasting, capital, negotiations and projects, formulating capital requests.
  • Strong in coaching and mentoring.
  • Previous experience working in a remote location in a developing country is advantageous.
  • Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication and public speaking skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong active listening and interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution and training.

Mobilisation Requirements:
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment and a police check.
  • Must be open to FIFO in PNG
