Operations near and far

Located in the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of WA, Telfer is a short two-hour flight from Perth. Working as a fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) operation, comprising of open pit and underground, you'll be working 8 days on, 6 days off lifestyle. While at site Telfer offers a diverse range of recreational activities including a gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room, and refurbished communal eatery.

Who we're looking for

As our Supervisor - Mechanical Maintenance, your role will be to provide direct supervision of internal and external maintenance teams to manage assets, projects, and processes, to ensure safe, sustainable, and reliable performance in line with asset management best practices and compliant with regulations and Newcrest's policies, procedures, and standards.

We are seeking a highly collaborative supervisor to provide operational direction to the work teams ensuring our resources, capacity, and our capability are aligned to the work plans.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Responsibility for all employees, contractors and sub-contractors, assets, workshops, offices, facilities, work areas, and activities under your control.
  • Actively monitoring and reviewing performance and address any deviances from the target.
  • Actively reporting on performance, progressing against objectives, and escalating critical issues.
  • Ensuring all incidents are captured, and managing the investigation process through to closeout.
  • Ensuring SAP use is consistent with the established Maintenance Business Process.
  • Provide shutdown support as required. Be available for Surface Maintenance shutdowns.
  • Collaborating both vertically and horizontally at all levels in the organisation to ensure common alignment, teamwork, and engagement.

To succeed and thrive in this role, you'll come from a proven mechanical or maintenance background, with demonstrated experience working in the mining/heavy industry. We are looking for a strong communicator and influencer, and someone who is familiar with working in a highly collaborative environment.

Experience with asset management, and scoping out the execution of the work is essential, as is your easy-going, friendly, and approachable personality.

A Cert 4 in Mechanical Engineering would be a benefit but is not essential.
