The Role:

We are seeking a Technical Specialist Mechanical, specifically across Grinding within Fixed Plant Gold processing to work on a FIFO arrangement with Lihir Gold Limited in Papua New Guinea. Reporting to the Supervisor Mechanical you will provide technical direction and expertise to the Process Plant's operational and maintenance work groups to carry out mechanical maintenance activities on the associated processing facilities and equipment. You will assist to develop procedures and training programs for plant maintenance projects & improvement initiatives across Grinding FPM. You will be required to monitor and troubleshoot at a technical level the operational and mechanical maintenance activity regarding grinding FPM and provide technical direction to the supervisors, planners and the maintenance teams. You will safely oversee the technical specialist responsibilities in this area to achieve cost savings, continuous improvement and role reductions. You would be carrying out general technical maintenance activities including assisting with the planning and at times executing of major grinding shutdowns. You will actively participate in scheduling and implementation of planned maintenance tasks and assist the supervisors in the direction of team members. Applicants who also hold strong mechanical maintenance experience in Tanks and Tailings and Autoclaves are encouraged to apply also.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
  • Relevant Mechanical Engineering trades qualification or certification essential.
  • 7+ years relevant work experience essential including 3 years as a supervisor specialist level.
  • Technical Specialist experience within Fixed Plant Maintenance area essential with Grinding maintenance capability.
  • Significant direct grinding technical specialist experience in fixed plant processing with some Project Execution and Management experience.
  • Shutdown experience in fixed plant gold processing;
  • Significant experience with positive displacement pumps, mechanical seal maintenance and installation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in hydraulics & pumping, conveyors, belts and rubber.
  • Demonstrated ability to technically understand blueprints and drawings for the Grinding AM area;
  • Familiar with ERP systems including SAP - essential;
  • A good understanding of factors influencing standard maintenance business practice KPIs;
  • Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication and public speaking skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Sound planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.
  • Working at heights certificate desirable.
  • Confined space entry certificate desirable.
  • Overhead travelling crane operation certificate desirable.
  • Rigging or dogging certificated desirable.
  • PNG National Driver's License essential.
  • Certificate in Workplace Assessment and Training or similar desirable

Mobilisation Requirements:
  • This is FIFO role.
  • Ability to provide/obtain valid police clearance
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment
