Located in the Great Sandy Desert in East Pilbara, Western Australia, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance. Families are welcomed several times a year to open days to support our community feel at Telfer.

Who we're looking for

Reporting into the Manager Ore Treatment, the primary focus of this position is to provide safe, efficient and cost-effective operational control of Telfer's metallurgical operation. You will be accountable for providing leadership and operational direction to your work teams, ensuring resources, capacity and capability are aligned to the work plans. With direct responsibility from the primary crushers to the tailings storage facility, including heap leach for setting the operating parameters and oversight of assay and metallurgical laboratories, this position is massively rewarding and full of challenging opportunity.

Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):
  • Setting and monitoring parameters for the metallurgical operation of the ore processing plant
  • Management of the WAVE system to ensure EDGE project delivery
  • Aligning to and implementing strategic plans & monitoring technology advancements and recommending appropriate selection and implementation
  • Developing and supporting the team to continually improve the operational processes

To succeed in this role, you will be safety focused, self-motivated and have strong time management skills. You will have expert technical capability combined with highly developed written and verbal communication skills.

We are looking for a strong communicator and influencer and someone who is familiar with working in a highly collaborative environment with a strong emphasis on innovation and best practise.

You'll have a relevant degree qualification in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering. Ideally, you will also have the following;
  • Extensive exposure to mineral processing operations within gold and copper
  • Demonstrated experience with concentrate flotation
  • Experience with metallurgical accounting processes and systems in gold mining applications
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management of a team in a technical context
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement experience and effective delivery of continuous improvement projects
