The Role:

We are seeking an Experienced Supervisor Mechanical - Drills & Crushers to supervise the daily activities of the mechanical mobile fleet maintenance team to ensure optimum mobile fleet availability and reliability is achieved in a safe and timely manner. The incumbent must have;

Well-developed interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills in English and Tok Pisin. Enthusiasm, self-motivation and the ability to maintain direction and achieve work objectives with minimal supervision. Demonstrated leadership skills and the initiative and drive to effectively supervise the work group in a technically challenging environment

You Will:

  • Demonstrate personal responsibility for own health and safety whilst setting clear expectations of relevant legal obligations, safe workplace practices and HSE operating practices to others, holding them accountable for their actions.
  • Take personal responsibility to develop team members through constructive feedback, allocation of assignments projects, coaching and formal training to build capability & competence.
  • Embodies Newcrest's vision and values leading by example.
  • Develops short to mid-term plans, tasks and actions to achieve business performance goals within resourcing, timeline & budget constraints whilst monitoring progress and solving problems as they occur.

  • Effectively manages costs within team's business area including participation in the budgeting process, financial analysis & cost benefit assessments.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the similar role

  • Mechanical skills from working on fixed assets including drills and crushers.
  • Skilled in the use of the SAP software to manage the day to day planning and scheduling of maintenance activities desirable

  • Trade Certificate in Diesel Fitting or Heavy Equipment Fitting essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualification advantageous.
  • PNG Driver's Licence - Class 6 essential.
  • Previous experience in delivery and assessment of training desirable


Mobilisation Requirements:
  • FIFO roster
  • Ability to provide/obtain valid police clearance
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment
