The Role
We are seeking an experienced Technician - Mechanical for a FIFO position on Lihir Island, PNG. Reporting to the Supervisor - Mechanical, you will be required to perform Mechanical fitting services on mobile equipment's in the Marine Maintenance Section of the Mobile Fleet Maintenance Department. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring that all equipment's are correctly maintained to meet necessary production and reliability targets and satisfy customer requirements

The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring that all equipment's are correctly maintained to meet necessary production and reliability targets and satisfy customer requirements
The role will have responsibility to:
- Provide ongoing daily services in inspecting, installing, fault-finding/troubleshooting, repairing and testing mechanical equipment on mobile fleet as required.
- Ensure documentation, maintenance and service records for equipment are complete and kept up to date
Essential criteria
- Minimum level of Grade 10 essential
- Mechanical Trade Certificate in Diesel Fitting or Heavy Equipment fitting essential
- 3-5 years post trade work experience essential in heavy industry preferably mining or marine Engineering background in a shipyard or seaborne environment
- Must be able to swim and be comfortable working within the water if required essential
- PNG Driver's Licence - Class 6 essential or proven ability to obtain by time of employment.
- Good verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
- High attention to detail with good time management skills.
- Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building
Desirable criteria
- Hydraulic and industrial dewatering pump experience (highly desirable).
- Relevant experience in maintaining equipment in mobile fleet (highly desirable).
- Confined space, working at heights tickets (desirable).
- Computer proficiency in SAP & MS Office suite desirable.
The Requirements
- Must be open to FIFO in PNG.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
- Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
